Application: Allied Hydropower – Hydroelectric System Design and Commissioning

In many hydroelectric Installations the water flow will vary, so in these circumstances design compromises are made in selecting the right sized equipment. Water turbines usually have to run at synchronous speed to generate at the correct frequency (50Hz). Water flow may at times drop below the minimum flow rate to drive the turbine at synchronous speed.

 

 

In conditions like this we are able to use two Parker 890 inverters to optimise the speed of the motor and still maintain electricity generation in low water conditions. The control system incorporates a G59 relay to ensure it provides voltage, frequency, and loss of mains protection to the distribution and electricity network.
