What is a B3 or Foot Mounted Motor?

B3 Mount motors or 'Foot Mounted' as they are sometimes referred to, are motors that sit on two feet at the base of the frame (see picture below). These feet are usually cast, they sometimes bolt to the body of the motor depending upon the manufacturer. On other motors the feet are pressed steel, this helps in situations where the motor may be handled roughly since pressed feet will bend, where the cast variants may crack or break altogether.

Foot mounted motors are usually fitted to 'Slide Bases' or 'Slide Rails' allowing for small adjustments to be made in the position of the motor to allow for belts and pulleys proper alignment.
