SY Rated Cable (Steel Wire Braid PVC Cable)

An SY control cable is a flexible electrical cable designed for measuring, control or regulation in the field of process automation. The S in the SY stands for Steel Wire Braid, and the Y for PVC. The cable is typically manufactured with PVC insulation and a transparent sheath, the transparency means that any signs of damage can be easily detected.

To watch out for - Some SY cables have a GSWB (Galvanised Steel Wire Braid) coverage of less than 20%, this does not go against standards as there are none but will lower the cables life substantially, a GWSB coverage of 55% and above is acceptable and will increase the durability of the cable noticeably.
